Prerequisites for the site templates

You will need the following setup in your environment in order to get the site templates to run

Make your service accounts are all set up Service Accounts

Install and configure the following software
  • Commerce Server 10 or 10.1
  • Windows 7 SP1, Windows 2008 R2, Windows 8, or Windows 2012
  • SQL Server 2008 R2 or 2012
    • IMPORTANT: The current iteration of the scripts can only handle deploying everything on one box, so SQL needs to be installed on the same box as the site.
  • IIS 7 or 8
  • A PowerShell hotfix http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2701373 must be installed
  • Powershell v2 or v3. The Site Templates require the execution policy to be modified to allow remote signed scripts to run. Otherwise the Site Templates will not deploy properly:
    • Open a 64bit PowerShell window as Administrator
    • Type the following in the PowerShell window: Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted
    • When prompted, select 'Y'
  • IMPORTANT: The Site Template .zip file may be blocked by default after download. Before you unzip the contents, be sure to unblock the zip file
    • Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the download location of the Site Template zip file.
    • Right click on the file, and select "Properties"
    • On the "General" tab, look for a "Security" attribute at the bottom of the dialog. If you see a message stating that "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer", you will need to click the "Unblock" button that appears next to the message. If no such message appears continue to the next step
    • Click the "OK" button to dismiss the Properties dialog
  • If you are on Windows 8 or Windows 2012 you must take control of the c:\windows\temp\ directory. You can do this by clicking on Properties -> Security -> Advanced -> Click on Change beside the Owner label and assign yourself as owner.
